Statistics: Russian producer price index rises 0.6% in April

MOSCOW, May 7 (PRIME) -- The Russian producer price inflation index increased by 0.6% on the month and 5.5% on the year in April after 0.7% and 5.8% in March, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Friday.

Food inflation slowed down to 0.75% on the month and to 6.55% in April from 0.82% and 7.58% in March. Food prices rose 3.85% since the start of the year. Egg prices rose 6.8%, buckwheat 2.3%, sugar 1.9%, sunflower oil 1.35%.

Without fruit and vegetables, the food prices rose 0.72% on the month and 6.77% on the year. The fruit and vegetable prices increased by 1.02% on the month and 4.75% on the year. The beetroot prices surged by 20.1% on the month, carrot by 9.6%, cabbage by 8.5%, potato 7.2%, while cucumber and tomato prices got 1.6% and 5.9% respectively.

Non-food goods grewby 0.66% on the month and 6.16% on the year.

The gasoline prices rose by 0.49% on average on the month, 5.92% on the year and 3.53% since the start of the year. Diesel fuel prices grew 0.3% on the month.
